Background Information
I am a bilingual (English and Farsi) therapist and have received my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Lynchburg College, and Masters in Counseling from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). I have 28 years of experience working in an international organization with exposure to working with people from many different cultures collaborating to achieve a common goal in reducing world poverty; and over 15 years in Psychotherapy working with diverse population presenting issues in adjustment, depression, trauma, acculturation and parenting.
I am licensed in State of Virginia and provide therapy services for Individual adults, and older adolescents. I specialize in treatment of adjustment issues, acculturation, anxiety, depression, trauma, and parenting concerns. I am flexible in my work, and offer a supportive environment utilizing insight-oriented approach and a cognitive behavioral framework with focus on root-causes of symptoms, and methods in changing approach and unwanted behavior along with their associated feelings and thoughts.
